To Duck and Cover, or Not To Duck and Cover?

I was just listening to a radio news update.  The announcer related that a film is being shot in one of the older neighborhoods here in New Orleans, and that the shoot will use lots of pyrotechnics and explosions.  So, he advised, "If you think you hear gunfire, it's probably just the film crew.  Probably."

Probably.

What a sad, frightening commentary on the state of "urban" civilization today.

  1. It is sad, Moogie. Yesterday evening just before 6 pm, a very fine man, and his employees were gunned down at his appliance shop about 4 blocks from my house.

I'd known Bill Norris most of my adult life, because my family was also in the appliance biz. Some bastard just killed 'em...no motive yet known. Police are looking for a tall, slender, light-skinned negro, wearing a gray hoodie. Describes several hundreds folks in my part of Urban America.

I've gotta go to work tonight with this animal on the loose (last seen headed north on Barksdale Blvd. North is my direction.)

The .38 is loaded, and Pam knows how to use it.

    Sad. Indeed.

  2. Oh, Andy. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your friends. Unfortunately, that gruesome scenario is way too commonplace these days. Pepper has trained me how to use his sidearms, too, and I don't think I'd hesitate to use them if the need arose. I hope Pam feels the same. Y'all stay safe, and we'll try to do the same.
