A Long, Hot Summer?

Let's see.  It's 93 degrees out there, and it's not even officially summer yet.  So, should I vacuum the house, or work on a blog post?  Hmmm.

June 1st -- opening day of the 2018 Hurricane Season.  It's good not to live on the Gulf Coast anymore!

It's also the ninth anniversary of the Lone Wolf self-radicalized Muslim terrorist attack at a Recruiting Office in Little Rock that killed one soldier and wounded another. The above link is to several Posts I wrote following the attack and trial (including a letter I wrote to then-President Obama concerning his non-response to the events). I thank God to this day for the Patriot Guard (who shielded the family and mourners of PVT Long from that abominable group of people who call themselves a Church), and for the States that now allow Recruiters to arm themselves against another attack like this one.

I hope this summer is a calm one, with no mass murders or terrorist attacks on American soil. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Considering the state of public discourse and tolerance, that may be no more than wishful thinking, but a girl can dream, can't she?

I'm good at dreaming.

A Day When Guilt is a Good Thing

This has been a very successful day in the criminal conviction of soulless, waste-of-oxygen-type folk.

#1 -- in Little Rock, convert to Islam, Abdulhakim Muhammad, accused of murdering Army PVT William "Andy" Long and shooting PVT Quinton Ezeagwula outside an Army Recruiting Office in 2009, copped a plea on the eve of trial.  Muhammad will serve life in prison, without parole, on the capital murder count, and life on 12 remaining counts, to run consecutively.  For good measure, the judge also tacked on another 180 years on firearm enhancement counts, also to run consecutively. I doubt he'll be drawing another breath of open air, and that is fine with me.

In the sentencing phase, PVT Long's father testified, "After 2 years, 1 month and 25 days, I can tell you from my experience and expertise at being a father of a murdered son, there is no closure[.]  . . . It is a myth." 

Prosecutor Larry Jegley later told reporters, "Ultimately any plea resolution has to be OK with the victim and the victim's family, [t]he Long family is merciful beyond description. And they showed mercy to Muhammad. Muhammad showed no mercy to the victims whatsoever."

It's a shame that Muhammad was tried on state charges instead of federal, meaning that he'll serve his sentence in an Arkansas prison.  It would've been pleasant to contemplate him serving time in a nice Army-friendly federal pen.  Like Leavenworth, maybe.

#2 -- this afternoon in New Orleans, a unanimous jury found former state legislator and City Council member, Renee Gill-Pratt guilty of Conspiracy to divert public funds and to loot charities for personal gain.  The jury is currently deliberating about the amount of restitution Gill-Pratt will be ordered to pay.  Prosecutors are asking for the tidy little sum of $1.4 mil. Hopefully, there will also be an orange jumpsuit added to Ms. Gill-Pratt's wardrobe.  I'd say she could pull off orange, wouldn't you?

#3 -- with the third thing being the charm -- Bring On Maxine Waters!

Honestly, does she ever shut up?!?!  Anyway -- let's keep this roll going!

He's Not Crazy, He's Religious

On June 1, 2009, convert-to-Islam Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad opened fire on two soldiers in Little Rock, Arkansas, killing one, PVT William Long. He is currently undergoing a court-ordered mental examination preliminary to his trial on charges of capital felony murder, among other things -- an unusual number of which oddly involve urine.

The examining psychiatrist recently filed his report with the court, concluding that Muhammad (the former Baptist, Carlos Leon Bledsoe) is most likely competent to stand trial. The despicable defendant revealed quite a bit about jihad in America in his conversations with the doctor, and in the process he also revealed a bit about how radical Islam isn't exactly a religion of peace and love. Today's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports:

“I was trying to kill them,” Muhammad told Dr. R. Clint Gray with the
Arkansas State Hospital, saying the shooting that injured Army Pvt. Quinton
Ezeagwula of Jacksonville and fatally wounded Pvt. William Long, 23, of Conway,
was “not due to mental illness, but due to obligation. It is a religious belief.”

. . .

“I’m not insane. I can stand trial. I’m not crazy,” he said, telling Gray that he has told his attorneys that he wants to plead guilty. “I can prove my beliefs in the Koran. It’s my religion. My family’s Baptist. They don’t understand. I’m saying I’m not brainwashed.”

Well, there you go. His family didn't understand him and the Koran instructed him to stalk and slaughter American soldiers on their native soil.

We'd better not interpret his words too mildly for the purposes of political correctness.

I'd like to see him strung up by the heels or other parts, but I hope he doesn't get the death penalty -- that would play right into the radical jihad mentality. I can think of many other creative forms of punishment, Eighth Amendment be damned.

Ah, yes, the wicked side of Moogie's brain is working overtime right about now (she said with an eerie glow emanating from her green eyes while one corner of her mouth curled upward in contemplation of something delicious).

An American Soldier Slaughtered on American Soil: R.I.P., PVT Long

The ol' man hasn't seen it yet, so this might not make it to the Post Office (we don't want that retirement check to "disappear" mysteriously, now do we?). But someone needs to clue the Young President in:

re: Murder of U.S. Army Soldier in Little Rock, Arkansas


Mr. President:


On Monday, June 1st, Privates William Andrew Long and Quinton I. Ezeagwula were gunned down in a parking lot in Little Rock, Arkansas, by 23 year-old Abdulhakim Muhammad, who was recently converted to Islam while in prison. PVT Long died.

Your office issued a statement concerning the event on Wednesday afternoon -- I have yet to see or hear anything about your statement other than through Arkansas media outlets. I am aware of it simply because I have family in Arkansas and have been watching to see how our Commander in Chief would react to the slaughter of one of his soldiers on American soil by an extremist member of a religion whose favor he is currying overseas at this very moment. The statement issued by your office as you traveled to Saudi Arabia reads:

"I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young
soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our
country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to
offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss
of their son."

Contrast the message to your soldiers' families with your expressions of "shock and outrage" at the "heinous act of violence" that took the life of some doctor in Wichita, and made on the same day as the murder. Oh, and your press office should be aware that PVT Long also left behind a sister. Do you see a problem here?

The American Legion hosted a memorial service in Little Rock on June 4th to give the public a chance to pay their respects. A traveling Liberty Bell monument was also there; it travels around the country to honor those who have fallen in service to our country.

Who was your representative at the service? Where was Mrs. Obama, who, during your campaign, pledged to place military families among her highest priorities?

It is obvious that you could not attend a memorial in person -- your travel schedule was set in stone long ago. But, Mr. Obama, you are our Commander in Chief. One of your soldiers was unexpectedly slaughtered on American soil while in uniform by a Muslim extremist. And your office could do no better than express deep sadness and ignore the sister of the fallen?

I find myself being glad, perhaps for the first time since his retirement after nearly 35 years of service to the Army and Army National Guard, that my husband is no longer in uniform. I am glad he is retired because now I am free to express my outrage at the deplorable behavior of our Commander in Chief (or at the complete and total mismanagement of his communications staff). I find myself ashamed of my President and his cavalier treatment of his soldiers. And that makes me "deeply saddened."

You should be ashamed, too, Sir.
